The compositions of Mariah Parker speak of the ample fusion and opening of its music to the world.  All the music is original brilliant of her.

Miss Parker has been in charge of mixing the musical arts of India and the Caribbean to continue contributing to the development of the Latin Jazz.

Mariah’s debut recording, Sangria was released in 2009 and has received airplay on over 468 New World, Jazz, and Latin radio programs, and earned over 90 reviews and media placements including two songs on the Smooth Jazz Now Top 100 Songs of 2009 Chart.
In 2009 Mariah and her Indo Latin Jazz Ensemble performed their debut concert to a full house at Yoshi’s in Oakland. Indo Latin Jazz Live in Concert captures the magic of that first performance as well as subsequent concerts at Berkeley’s Freight & Salvage, the Throckmorton Theater in Mill Valley and Bob Weir’s TRI Studios in San Rafael. This recording is scheduled to be released January 20, 2017.
The group of musicians that accompanies Miss Parker are notable virtuosos of international level, such as: Paul Candless, Grammy Award-winning woodwind and co-founder of the world-renowned ensemble Oregon; Matthew Monfort, founder and leader of the world fusion ensemble Ancient Future and pioneer of the scalloped fretboard guitar; Kash Killion, bassist with the Sun Ra Arkestra, cellist and perfomer on African and Indian string instruments; Ian Dogole, world percussionist, bandleader and collaborator with Ancient Future and Hamza el Din; Brian Rice, percussionist with Mike Marshall and Jovino Santos Neto; Duru Demetrius, Latin percussionist with jazz icons such as Joe Henderson and Herbie Hancock; Debopriyo Sarkar, tabla who recently toured with the Kronos Quartet; and Fred Randolph, bandleader, composer and in-demand bassist who has perfomed with Maria Muldaur.


The next Miss Parker show will be on August 6, 2017 at Portola Vineyards (Summer Jazz Concert Series).


Mariah Parker's Notes:
Mariah Parker  has been playing music from the time she could reach the keys on the grand piano in her family home. While completing her degree in music at UC Santa Cruz, she worked with ethnomusicologist Fred Lieberman and drummer Mickey Hart on the “Planet Drum” project and became fascinated with the possibilities of bridging musical concepts from different traditions. She has performed her original compositions in festivals in the US and Europe. A gifted composer and band leader, she released her first solo recording of her compositions, “Sangria,” in February of 2009. This release received extensive airplay and critical acclaim worldwide.
