El Colectivo Sur, an artist collective fostering collaborations between South American musicians based in NYC and abroad, presents an evening of cutting edge Venezuelan music featuring NYC based singer songwriter Juancho Herrera, and world acclaimed folkloric string ensemble C4 Trio. They will be joined by special guests Argentinean vocalists Sofia Tosello and Sofia Rei.  This concert is part of a series that started with two yearly editions of the NYC South American Music Festival and a show last May at Joe’s Pub, all three of which were sold out.
ABOUT C4 TRIO:
C4 Trio is a unique ensemble with focus centered on the Venezuelan cuatro. Their third album was nominated for a Latin Grammy in 2013. The group's origins stem directly from the International Competition “Siembra del Cuatro”, produced by master Cheo Hurtado. Jorge Glem, Edward Ramirez and Hector Molina have become the new shining stars of the Venezuelan Cuatro, selling out concerts all over Venezuela and beyond (Europe and the Americas). Joined by bassist Rodner Padilla, the ensemble has established itself as one of the new musical references of Venezuelan instrumental music. With four albums under their name, C4 Trio has managed to infuse new perspectives and energy to the Cuatro repertoire through collaborations with some of the greatest artists of their country such as Gualberto Ibarreto and el Pollo Brito. They have also shared the stage with artists such as Jorge Drexler, Oscar D'Leon, Gilberto Santa Rosa and Anat Cohen.  c4trio.com
