Aruba continues to successfully mixing tourism and jazz

I have always said: The Caribbean is unpredictable

This second part of the Jazz Festivals in Aruba has definitely solidified the Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival, having completed the 12th edition of it recently, as one of the most important cultural and artistic events of our region.

Scheduled for the past days 21 and 22 of September of this year, by its organizer leader Erik Eman, this gave, as always, the welcome to the invited musicians, to the national and international press, to the representatives of the sponsors, in a nice press conference held at Renaisance Conference Center. The festival distributes the magazine with information on the calendar, musicians, sponsors and other important tips.

There they were, with Mr. Eman, present Miss Tita Iglesias of ATA, Rowald Weidman of The Tropical Bottling Company of Aruba, Miss. Linderborg of Renaissance Hotel & Casino, the phenomenal Andy Narell, among others, relating memories and curiosities of previous festivals, such as the commemorative book of the 10th edition of 2016, which was a great surprise and an addition to the valuable jazz library.

The presence of Andy Narell is more than attractive to the passionate Latin Jazz, with his steel pan has something new, festive and tasty. His performances are emotional with calypso jazz, bolero jazz and other rhythms that he puts to dance and de-stress people. He represents one of our great values of our musical genre and aware of this I pay tribute to a multi-award winning band like Caribbean Jazz Project, always led by vibraphonist Dave Samuel and for which notable stars such as Paquito D 'Rivera, Roberto Quintero and Dave Valentin (RIP) have paraded, the same among others. The Haitian Ettiene Charles was making company to him that with his trumpet he makes his way musically.

The Soul Jazz was played by the flutist Althea Rene, who in months ago released a very hot CD "Unstoppable" and this year is coming to the bookstores with her book "Becoming Chocolate Barbie - a guide for professional women in the music business. I start many applauses with its originality and sweetness.

The saxophonist Eric Darius performed live songs from his recent CD "Breakin' 'Thru", cataloged within the smooth Jazz style. He comes from musical parents and has Jamaican roots for his mother.

The controversial Yellowjackets fusion band with its current members: Russel Ferrante (keyboard, synthesizers since 1977), Bob Mintzer (saxophones, bass clarinet since 1991), Will Kennedy (drums, percussion 1987) and Dane Alderson (bass 2015), added pepper to the Festival and to the ten thousand people attending the Renaissance sites ready for the event.

By the way Yellowjackets has just released his CD No. 27 called "Raising Our Voice" where they have invited the wonderful Brazilian singer Luciana Souza.

The variety of musical styles in the Caribbean Sea Jazz Festival was such that on stage were the Sister Sledge (Debbie, Joni, Kim and Kathy) from Philadelphia, reliving in Aruba hits from 1979 that played all over the world "We Are Family "and later" He's The Greatest Dancer "and" Lost in Music ".

As always Mr. Eman has his musicians invited from Holland and the islands, which reinforces his driving force of the new generations. Outstanding performance had the ladies of Anacaona and Habana Vieja All Stars.

Despite hurricanes, storms and other natural phenomena, calm, peace and joy return to our Caribbean.

And it is that your beaches, our sun, our environment, our history, our music are unique.

And the Happy Island: Aruba, makes us all happy. Its location in the Caribbean makes it untouchable, by God's command untouchable.

Here, in Oranjestad and the rest of the Island there is peace, quality of life, it happens that nobody wants the Festival to end, nor the moments of sun and beach, walks, to end. Other aspects that decorate this beautiful island is the affection of its people, crafts and high gastronomy.

We already want to suggest that you visit www.caribbeanseajazz. com since they are already announcing and reserving for the 2019 Festival. Make your contact and come to Happy Island ... do not miss it.

I would like to thank all the attentions and courtesies of Mr. Erik Eman and the beautiful professional people of the Aruba Tourism Authority for all their attentions and courtesies, especially Miriam Dabian, Nataly Arends, Joanna Santiago, Ana Carolina Plaza

Now I invite you to enjoy this latest video of Happby Island: Aruba
