The Pablo Ziegler Trio won the 2018 Grammy® Award for "Best Latin Jazz Album" with their exciting release Jazz Tango (ZOHO). Ziegler, who honed his piano and composing skills working with legendary fellow Argentinian Astor Piazzolla, continues developing the style of Nuevo Tango.
On Jazz Tango, pianist/composer/arranger Ziegler presents his US-based trio of world-class Argentinian collaborators Hector Del Curto (bandoneon) and Claudio Ragazzi (guitar). They play three Nuevo Tango standards by Astor Piazzolla and seven soulful, virtuosic originals by Ziegler. This Grammy® victory follows a win for Best Tango Album at the 2005 Latin Grammys, along with four additional nominations from 2008 to 2016. It also represents a historic first for the genre of Nuevo Tango, as the first major Grammy® win for a Nuevo Tango recording. This year's 2018 Grammy® Award for "Best Latin Jazz Album" further highlights Ziegler's pioneering forward momentum. |
Looking Ahead:
In March, Pablo's first solo piano album "Solo Pablo Ziegler" will be released on the Steinway & Sons label. Among Ziegler's upcoming concert dates, two special engagements include: 1) US premier of his new work called "12 Horas" - Argentina Meets Japan on September 21st in Denison, OH at Denison University - Swasey Chapel - Vail Series.
2) Pablo Ziegler Ensemble & Paul Taylor Dance Company on Sep 14th at Virginia Tech - Moss Art Center.
